Training Has Started, Plus A Trail Adventure!

Training for my FIRST ever half started last week. I will say I actually feel pretty good about it. That might be a little bit of a crazy thought, but I no longer feel nervous. When I first signed up for Wine & Dine I wasn't even able to do a 10K. I have come a long way. My furthest distance to date is 7 miles and knowing I can do that helps ease the feeling of being unsure.
I am trying to find my groove with the Galloway training plan. I am not use to interval training. I dreaded intervals when I first got back into running. Now that I run 3 miles easy, walking every few minutes seems to drag on. Anyone have suggestions? I welcome them!

Yesterday morning Fabulous and I decided to try our first ever trail run. Ha! We agreed to walk it first time through to get a feel... but there were several trails that broke off into different paths and I will say.. I am one for getting lost, very easily. Walking it was! We saw some pretty cool plants and such. Lizards scared us and made us jump more times than I can count! No lie! Spiderwebs. Yup I surely got an arm workout from flailing my arms every few steps because of the webs. Fun stuff. NOT! The animal prints in the sand were pretty neat to see, not so much the snake prints though. The view was pretty too.
While walking our way back I sneezed. I looked up and to my left was a brown fuzzy creature running away from us. I was like what was that! Fabulous heard the bushes moving and set off running! We got back to main trail pretty quick! I can laugh about it now. Although at the moment it wasn't so funny. Fabulous thinks it was a hog. Probably was too. Needless to say that was the end of our trail adventure!
Maybe in the future we will attempt it again.. after I do some research on trails!  But for now it will serve as fun memory, something the two of us will be able to laugh about over and over again. Do you and your running buddy have funny stories? I'd love to hear them!!
